Building Products and Systems

The building products and systems industries are a cornerstone of Alberta's economy, but lower cost imports, environmental concerns and labour/resource shortages threaten their future viability.

To help these industries face these pressures, the Alberta Research Council is:

• Developing new and higher-value building products and systems that will compete with lower cost imports
• Reducing manufacturing costs by developing new processes and technologies
• Reducing the environmental impact and energy consumption related to manufacturing

Our work is concentrated into two main areas:

• Engineering composite panels for buildings
• Energy efficient building products and systems
