New Capture Technologies
The Alberta Research Council is developing new technologies for capturing CO2 and other air emissions
The high cost of current methods has prevented their widespread dissemination and use by industry. Our research is looking at new chemical solutions and connectors as possible options.
Project profile
Renewable natural gas production and cleaning from organic wastes
A new initiative is building on the experience that has been gained by the our work on membrane separation technologies.
The new project, "Renewable Natural Gas Production and Cleaning from Organic Wastes" is developing and testing biogas cleanup and separation technology that cleans trace contaminants from the produced biogas and separates the remaining gases into two commodity products:
- recycled natural gas
- pure carbon dioxide
This project is being supported by:
- the federal government's Clean Coal Technology and Innovation (T&I) program
- the City of Edmonton
- Alberta Advanced Education and Technology
