Collaborating With Us: Flexible Working Arrangements

Flexible Working Arrangements

We function as a not-for-profit contract business focused on growing and strengthening Alberta's economy.  As such, we customize our working arrangements to suit our clients' needs. Whether working in smaller, one-on-one collaborations or within group arrangements, we will work closely with our clients to find the best solutions to meet their needs in today's fast-paced market.

Options include joint ventures, strategic alliances, joint industry projects, consortiums, and contracted services.

One-on-one collaborations

Joint ventures

ARC will partner on product and technology development in the pursuit of a specific business opportunity. Where appropriate industrial partners can access and commercialize ARC patents and intellectual property through licensing agreements. In technology areas of interest, ARC also acquires or licenses in technology from outside the corporation.

Strategic alliances

ARC will partner with others at the program level to integrate multiple projects that meet the strategic requirements of a customer. Program management can range from a few projects to operating and managing entire technology development centres.

Multiple partner collaborations

Joint industry projects

Focused on solving a common technical problem, joint industry projects involve more than one industry member and ARC. Typically, these projects last one to four years and have a well-defined outcome.

Consortia

Consortia are collaborative arrangements to advance pre-competitive research programs that bring together government and industry around a shared research agenda. Consortium membership fees fund a common technical program.

Contracted services

Our services in technology development, assessment, testing, and information and IP management are available to customers on a contract or fee basis. In the case of research contracts, customers retain ownership of the data and technology developed under contract. Complex research projects will often require a needs assessment and detailed project plan. Custom billing arrangements can be made for frequent or routine contract services.

ARC worked with researchers from Nilex Inc. to develop Geosynthetic Super Absorbent Polymer Liners (GSLs), which belong to a group of man-made materials that are used as a barrier to transport or contain liquids or solids that must be kept separate from existing soil. Examples of use include landfills, industrial ponds/lagoons, and as secondary containment for pipelines and tank storage.

Hear it Straight From Our Partners

We had the concept and could only take it so far. The commercial knowledge and acumen of Nilex complemented the scientific competency of ARC. When we’re developing a new product, we lean on ARC for technical support.
