Foresight
Our foresight process consists of the systematic examination of future needs and opportunities for Alberta and then developing ways of addressing them. This process is currently being applied to the areas of Water and Value Added Petroleum Processing, Health and Energy Efficient Building Products & Systems. Several other areas will also be examined in the course of 2008.
While the focus is on Alberta and, in particular on the needs and opportunities of the province's businesses, the work is also applicable to other regions of Canada and the world.
Our foresight process is applied in three phases:
- The collection and assessment of available knowledge (including trends, foreseeable future developments and potential unusual happenings) for the area under examination;
- The use of the knowledge to determine implications for the future, with particular reference to the people, businesses and communities of Alberta;
- The development and implementation of action plans to address the needs and opportunities in the area.
