Integrated Resource Management the Focus of New Research Council Vice President

John McDougall, President and CEO of the Alberta Research Council Inc. (ARC), is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Shawn Gervais as vice president, Integrated Resource Management (IRM).
"Alberta’s prosperity and quality of life are inextricably linked to sustainable development," says McDougall. "ARC continues to be committed to sustainable resource development and environmental management as an important part of our R&D agenda."
"It’s an exciting time for IRM," says Gervais. "Our scientific leaders and program staff are producing really innovative solutions for some of today’s most pressing development challenges. Our existing partners are terrific and we’re always looking for more ways to work with industry, government and academia."
"We’ve some strong successes on which to build. Our IMUS technology, for instance, deals with the whole concept of bio-energy. This year, the project team received three prestigious awards, the Emerald Award, the Growing Alberta Award and the ASTech Award. In the area of land reclamation, ARC’s Terry Macyk, was recently awarded the “Pioneer of Reclamation” from the American Society of Mining and Reclamation."
Shawn Gervais is an experienced senior management executive, specializing in product development and technology commercialization. He joined the Alberta Research Council in July 2002 from The Westaim Corporation, and is a member of the Product Development Management Association and the Society for Conservation Biology.
