Media & Resources: ARC Announces Changes to Senior Management Team

ARC Announces Changes to Senior Management Team

October 15, 2007 - Edmonton

John McDougall, president and CEO of the Alberta Research Council (ARC), is pleased to announce two appointments to the senior management team.

Steve Hogle has been appointed vice-president of Communications & Public Affairs.  Steve will use his leadership and journalistic skills to raise the profile of the work being done at ARC to develop and deploy innovative science and technology.  Those solutions help develop, diversify and sustain our economy to the benefit of Albertans.  Steve comes to ARC from CTV Edmonton where he was director of News & Public Affairs.  Steve led a team of dedicated journalists to build on a tradition of excellence in local news and maintain dominance in market ratings.  Steve, who attended both the University of Illinois and the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, has a long standing commitment to the community.

Larry Staples, P.Eng., FCSCE has been appointed vice-president of Engineered Products & Services.  Larry joins ARC’s senior management team in addition to his position as president and CEO of C-FER Technologies, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ARC.  This builds on a proven relationship between ARC and C-FER to support sustainable resource development in the Alberta and worldwide energy industry.  Larry has 30 years of engineering research experience and has held executive positions in firms ranging from established national companies to high technology start-ups.  Larry has spent almost three decades volunteering with the Association of Petroleum Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta.

These changes to ARC’s senior management team will infuse new talent and provide a balance of leadership skills that will strengthen our ability to achieve high levels of sustained performance.  This will position us well for the future to further ARC’s efforts in delivering innovative solutions that support industry and government.

The Alberta Research Council Inc. delivers innovative science and technology solutions that meet the priorities of industry and government in Alberta and beyond. Established in 1921, ARC is wholly-owned by the Government of Alberta and incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation.
